Live VideoST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team continues MIAC play Saturday, Dec. 6, when it travels to St. Paul, Minn., to take on rival St. Thomas. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
About the Tommies: St. Thomas is one of six 1-0 teams in the MIAC after Wednesday's conference openers, and is one of two conference teams that went undefeated in nonconference play. The Tommies enter Saturday's game 5-0 overall and are behind Saint Mary's, which leads the league with seven wins. Meggie Weiers and Jenna Dockter lead the team with 14.6 and 14 points per game, respectively, and Anna Smith leads St. Thomas and is fourth in the MIAC with 7.8 rebounds per game. As a team, the Tommies are second in the league with a 43.2 field-goal percentage.
Last Year: The Tommies were ranked in the top 20 in Division III both times the two teams met in 2013-14. St. Thomas won the first matchup 60-36 on Dec. 14 in St. Paul, and ended the Blazers' season with a 69-52 victory Feb. 22 in St. Joseph.
Mattie Lueck finished with seven points, six rebounds and four assists in the February matchup.
The Storyline: Saint Benedict comes into this afternoon's game looking to snap St. Thomas' winning streak and pick up its first MIAC win of the year. With just one MIAC game left before the holiday break, the Blazers are looking to build a little conference momentum heading into the new year. The Tommies, on the other hand, are looking to stay undefeated and at the top of the conference.
