COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team ended its nonconference season with a 1-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh Sunday afternoon.

The Blazers made a quick recovery from their 2-0 loss to Carleton College Saturday – their first MIAC loss of the year. Sunday's win put CSB back on track and marked its ninth shutout of the year.

The two teams were scoreless in the first half thanks in large part to CSB goalkeepers Heather Kaluzniak and Megan Favorite. The duo combined for seven first-half saves as the Titans (6-4-1) outshot the Blazers 12-6 in the first half.

Saint Benedict picked up the pace in the second half and got some early shots on the Titans' goal. The Blazers got on the board in the 50th minute when Peggy Renier scored off a pass from Gracie Vaughan. That lone goal proved to be enough as Kaluzniak made two second-half saves to preserve the shutout and give Saint Ben's the win.

Oshkosh, which was on a three-game winning streak heading into Sunday's matchup, outshot the Blazers 20-12, including a 9-5 margin in shots on goal. Favorite made four saves and Kaluzniak had five saves for CSB.

The Blazers are back at home Saturday, Oct. 11, when they host Bethel at 1 p.m. at the SJU practice field. Saint Ben's is also at home Tuesday, Oct. 14, when it hosts St. Thomas at 4 p.m.
