Northfield, Minn. -- The Saint Benedict soccer team (9-2, 4-1 MIAC) saw its nine-game winning streak snap today, losing 0-2 at the hands of the Carleton College Knights (7-3-1, 4-0-1 MIAC). With the loss the Blazers fall to third overall in the MIAC, trailing first-place Carleton and Concordia by one point. The road loss is the first time the Blazers have lost an away game this season.
Â
Carleton scored their first goal just 27 minutes into the game, when sophomore midfielder Ava Lewis scored off a free kick. The goal was Lewis' team-leading fifth of the year.
Â
In the games' 79th minute, Carleton senior Ellie Wilson grabbed a rebound and sent the ball sailing into the net, securing the win for the Knights.
Â
The Knights outshot the Blazers 12-1 during the game, just the third time this year the Blazers have been outshot. The Knights finished with eight shots on goal.
The silver lining to the loss is that the Blazers have only one day to wait to avenge their loss, as they host the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (6-3-1, 2-0 WIAC) in Collegeville tomorrow. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
