Northfield, Minn. – The No. 24 Saint Benedict soccer team kept on rolling today (Sept. 21) with its 1-0 win on the road over St. Olaf.
The Blazers (6-0-1, 2-0-0) remain unbeaten with their sixth consecutive win, also taking their fourth shutout of the season.
Colleen Bouchard put the Blazers on the board early in the match with the game's only goal in the 24
th minute, scoring on an assist from
Peggy Renier.
The goal was Bouchard's third of the year, and first game-winner, extending her team-leading point total to 12. She has also now notched at least one point in six of the Blazers' seven games.
The Blazers had the pressure on all day, putting up 16 total shots, with seven landing on net. Conversely, the Oles (2-4-1, 1-1-0) collected just nine shots on the day, while the Blazers defense continually held them in check with only three making their way to the goal.
Heather Kaluzniak stopped all three to preserve the shutout, her third of the season.
The nine shots allowed by the defense tied a season low mark, while the three shots on goal is a new season best for the Blazer backline.
The Blazers have just one match on the schedule next week, staying on the road for a Sept. 28 match at Gustavus with a 1 p.m. kickoff in St. Peter, Minn.
