St. Cloud, Minn. – The Saint Benedict hockey team lost 4-0 to Saint Mary's today (Nov. 23), falling for the fifth straight time with a tough loss to the Cardinals.

The Blazers also fell 3-1 yesterday to SMU, and now sit at 0-5-0 overall on the season and 0-4-0 in MIAC play. Saint Mary's improves to 2-3-0 overall, and pulls even in MIAC play at 2-2-0.

In the first period, the Cardinals took 10 shots as the Blazers were held to four. The Cardinals were able to slip one past goaltender Jenna Traut (St. Cloud, Minn.), who was playing in her first game of the season. After going down 1-0, the Blazers responded with 12 shots in the second period, but the Cardinals took another 11 shots and scored two more times to bring the score up to 3-0.

Saint Mary's then went on to more than double the Blazers shots with 16 compared to the Blazer's seven in the third period. The Cardinals gained one more goal in period to put the final score at 4-0 and walk away with the second win of the weekend.

Traut finished the night with 33 saves and four goals allowed in the loss as the Blazers still look for their first win of the season. Alli O'Brien (Stillwater, Minn.) and Liz Hermes (Apple Valley, Minn.) led the Blazers today with three shots each as the Blazers finished the night with a total of 23.

Saint Ben's will move on to face Stevenson University at home for their third of five straight home games. The puck drop is set for 4:45 p.m. next Saturday (Nov. 30) at the MAC with hopes of capturing their first win and start the momentum rolling through the season.
