Swim & Dive Hosts MSU Moorhead

Home Opener: The Saint Benedict swimming and diving team hits the pool for the second time this season, and the first time at home, hosting MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m., Nov. 15.

About the Dragons: MSUM (5-4 duals) has four consecutive dual wins, including a 3-0 mark at the Carleton quad on Nov. 1 and a convincing 230.5-69.5 win over Concordia-Moorhead last Saturday. MSU Moorhead also owns dual meet wins over MIAC foes St. Oalf and St. Catherine this season, with their fourth win coming over Northern State. The Dragons were third last season at the NSIC Championships.

Last Year: The Saint Benedict swimming and diving team took wins in four events, but fell 182-117 on the road last season. Haley Chatelaine started the winning for the Blazers, taking the top spot in the 1000-free with a time of 11:28.71. Brita Skalbeck joined the winning ways with her victory in the 100-back, finishing in 1:01.89. Ellen Dean made it two meets in a row with a win, taking the 200-fly, winning with a time of 2:17.22, over two seconds better than second place from MSUM. Rounding out the Blazer winners was Stephanie Bierman in the 100-free.

Last Time Out: The Blazers started off the 2013-14 season on the right foot on Nov. 9, taking home the team title at the Hamline Invite. Not only did they start the season with a win, they gave new head coach Dan Eckberg a victory in his first career meet. The Blazers finished with 10 event winners on the day, racking up 601 total points to out-distance Macalester in second place with 466 points. Macalester's three wins was the next most behind the Blazers.  Stephanie Bierman picked up right where she left off last year, sweeping the sprints with wins in each the 50, 100 and 200-free. She opened the day with a 1:58.98 in the 200-free, and then shortly after won the 50-free with a 25.16. Her day wrapped up with a 54.41 in the 100-free for the hat trick and her third win of the afternoon.
