St. Joseph, Minn. - The Saint Benedict basketball team had it going on both ends of the floor tonight, shooting 47.3% on offense while holding St. Catherine to a 39.6% mark en route to a 65-57 win.

After taking a 31-20 lead into the break, CSB shot a Blazing 51.7% (15-of-29) in the second half to lock up the win. The key stretch was a 9-to-1 run over two-and-a-half minutes just past the midway point of the second, paced by seven points from Brianna Barrett.

Barrett again led the team in scoring, totaling 17 points to top the 15 mark for the seventh time on the year. As she led the Blazers, her seven straight points helped turn a 46-42 lead at the 9:04 mark of the second, into a 55-43 advantage with 6:48 to go. The Blazers would lead by at least eight the rest of the way.

The lead would extend out to as much as 15 as the Blazers cruised in the final minutes, posting their second best shooting night from the field all season. On the other end, the defense was clicking as well, holding St. Kate's to just a 28.0% (7-of-25) clip in the first half, as they ran out to the double-digit halftime lead.

Barrett finished as they only player in double figures, but a balanced effort saw10 different players find the basket, with five contributing six points per more. Jessica Fischer had a career high nine points, finishing a perfect 3-of-3 at the free throw line while adding a pair of three-pointers. Also in the mix was Emily Lueck with eight, her best game since scoring 16 each in the first two games of the season.

A sometimes sloppy game saw 39 combined turnovers, including 24 from the Wildcats, which the Blazers used to score 17 points. Also making a difference was the game underneath the basket, with the Blazers outscoring the Wildcats 32-to-20.

Now winners of a season high three in a row, the Blazers will hit the road next for a big match-up with Concordia. The Cobbers won 72-47 over Macalester tonight to run their conference record to 6-1, sitting just a half-game ahead of the Blazers. Game time is 7:30 p.m., Jan. 9 in Moorhead, Minn.
