Monday Knight Showdown: The Blazers come into today's game riding a three-game win streak and looking to make it four. The streak was given birth on Jan. 12 when the Blazers did the impossible by upsetting St. Thomas 66-62 at Claire Lynch Hall. A win today would also be their second win in Northfield in three days after marching out of St. Olaf with a 72-56 victory on Saturday afternoon.

About Carleton: Last time out the Knights snapped a two-game winning streak on the road at Hamline. They shot just 30% from the line and 20% from beyond the arc en route to a 63-71 loss at the hands of the Pipers. Prior to that two-game winning streak, the Knights went through an abysmal December-through-early-January stretch in which they lost eight consecutive games, all of them by double digits.  After a slight rebound the Knights now sit at eighth place in the conference with a 4-8 conference record and 4-11 overall record.

Last Season: The Blazers swept the season series last year, opening with a 75-59 win over Carleton at home in early December. The Blazers were appropriately led by Whitney Canton and Brianna Barrett, who combined for 37 points on 12-of-20 (60%) shooting from the field. In the second meeting the Blazers stifled the Knights with their swarming defense, jumping out to a 28-12 halftime lead while holding the Knights to just 12 points on 5-for-26 (19%) shooting from the floor. The Blazers then held on for a 56-48 victory for the game in Northfield.

Storyline: Can the Blazers take advantage of a shaky Carleton defense to win their second road game in Northfield in three days? The Knights are currently giving up 64.6 points per game this season, second to only St. Catherine's (1-14) for worst in the MIAC. One of the biggest reasons the Knights have been inconsistent this year is that they cough up the ball an average of 19 times per game, giving their opponents lots of free fast-break points.

Winning Streak: The last time the Blazers lost to the Knights, George W. Bush was our president, Nancy Pelosi had just begun her first term as America's first female Speaker of the House, and the Patriots were en route to finishing a perfect 16-0 in the regular season before losing in the Super Bowl to the 10-6 New York Giants. In an equally-surprising upset, the Knights managed to steal one away from the Blazers, defeating them 64-61 in Northfield. The Blazers have won 10 straight games against Knights ever since, and show no intention of letting Carleton snap that streak anytime soon.

Who to Watch: Brianna Barrett is the Blazers leading scorer and fifth-leading scorer among the MIAC leaders with 13.6 points per game. She has scored in double-figures in all but three Blazer contests this year. Whitney Canton has also been brilliant at times this year, adding another 9.3 points per game. Against St. Olaf on Saturday, Canton lit up the Oles for 18 points while Barrett was held to a relatively-pedestrian six points. Her scoring, however, was not needed that day as the Blazers dominated the Oles from every angle in a 72-56 victory.

Last Time Out: On Saturday the Blazers caught fire for one of their most impressive outside shooting displays over the past few years. Led by Tish Alexander's 4-of-5 night from beyond the arc, the Blazer's 60% (12-of-20) three-point shooting outburst sent down the Oles 72-56. Those 12 three's were the most a Blazer team had made in one game since the 2010-11 season.
