RESULTS
The Blazer tennis team was successful in their travels to Bethel University on Monday April 2nd in St. Paul, finishing the match with a score of 7-2.
Blazers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with the fourth consecutive MIAC doubles victory for two doubles team Lauren Jones (Ogden, UT, Saint Joseph Catholic) and Megan Seipel (New London, MN, New London-Spicer). Bethel evened the match by winning the number one spot. MacKenzie Rayman (Burnsville, MN, Apple Valley) and Alicia Vargas (Coon Rapids, MN, Coon Rapids), playing their first match together put the Blazers back in front with a hard victory. The match was tied late in the contest before Rayman and Vargas broke serve and held the lead to win the match.
The Blazer's broke the match open with three quick singles wins, led by Alyson Brandell (Elk River, MN, Elk River) at #1. Her powerful groundstrokes were too much for her opponent and she quickly gave the Blazers a 3-1 lead, dropping only one game at the top spot. Lauren Jones and Taylor Reiner (Darwin, MN, Hutchinson) sealed the victory for Saint Ben's without dropping a game. Both players won their match 6-0, 6-0. Taylor picked up her second consecutive MIAC singles win today. Rounding out the scoring for CSB were victories by Megan Seipel at #4 and Alicia Vargas rallied for her win, by closing out the decisive super tie-break after winning the opening set and dropping the second set in her match at #5.
Blazers head into Easter break winning 3 out of 4 tough MIAC matches. Up next is a home match against the Minnesota State University Mankato next Thursday.
