RESULTS
After losing two matches in California last weekend, the Blazer tennis team returned to the sunny state looking for a victory. The Blazers (3-2 overall, 1-0 MIAC) finished their match on Saturday March 8th with a strong win against Northwestern (Iowa) in Claremont, California with a team match score of 8-1.
MacKenzie Rayman and Elissa Husby played a superb match at three doubles and came out with an impressive score of 8-1. Rayman also played well at her four singles position, finishing with set scores of 6-3, 6-1.
Alicia Vargas made a memorable impression during her first time playing at the two singles position. She defeated her opponent with set scores of 6-3, 6-2.
The Blazers went on to play their next match against Claremont at 11 a.m. on Sunday Feb. 9th. Saint Ben's found tough competition in the Claremont team and ended up losing the match with a final score of 8-1.
Despite what the score implies, the Blazers played with force and there were numerous close sets. Alicia Vargasmanaged to get the only point for team at six singles playing a competitive 3 set match with the final scores being 6-3, 7-6, and 7-3.
Megan Seipel also played very well at her five singles position. She also went into a grueling 3 set match but ended up losing the match with the final scores being 2-6, 6-4, and 10-3.
The Blazers look forward to their next match against a MIAC rival, St. Thomas, on March 27th at 6:00 p.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.
