BOX SCORE
The College of Saint Benedict (3-8-3 overall, 1-3-3 MIAC) traveled to Moorhead, Minn. to face the ninth ranked Cobbers of Concordia College (8-2-2 overall, 4-1-2 MIAC). After giving up three goals to start the game, the Blazers would orchestrate an incredible come from behind effort to end the game in a 3-3 tie.
The Cobbers scored three goals in the first period. The first goal came just over six minutes from Abby Taffe and was followed by two more goals later in the period. The game could very well have been over for the Blazers from here, but with some senior captain leadership they did not quit.
First-year forward
Annie Gorman started off the Blazers comeback with a goal nine minutes into the second period. Senior captain
Kerri Graske pulled the game within a single goal as she scored on a power play just over three minutes into the third period. With only six minutes left in regulation, the Blazers other senior captain
Rachel Welz scored the game tying goal. This sent Saint Bens into yet another overtime game this season.
After struggling in the first period, first-year goaltender
Jenna Traut saved 24 of 24 shots on goal in the final three periods. This included eight saves in overtime to hold onto the tie.
With some momentum on their side, the Blazers will take on the Cobbers in Moorhead today (January 21) again at 2 p.m.
