Blazers Face Stellar Defense and Fall Short to Virginia Wesleyan 3-0

Results

The College of Saint Benedict Blazer Soccer team (1-1 overall, 0-0 MIAC) faced extraordinary defense from Virginia Wesleyan College as they fell the Marlins 3-0.

The game started off very quickly as Virginia Wesleyan's Jessica Edelman nudged a goal during the 13th minute. With early momentum on the Marlins side, Marlin's Bre Ingargiola let a shot fly that glanced off the right post and luckily made it into the goal to give the Marlins an early 2-0 lead.

The Blazers were relentless starting the second half pushing the ball up the field, but with the solid Marlin defense, no goals could be mustered. The Blazers put forth all the effort they had in the second half but fell short of the elusive comeback. When the game ended the final score was 3-0 in favor of the Marlins, who had given Jessica Edelman the honor of scoring two goals and assisting the other. Blazers Claire O'Brien (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View) tallied up one save and Megan Favorite (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove) also added three saves.

The Blazers return to action this Friday, September 9 at home against the University of Wi-Eau Claire at 5 pm.
