The Blazers (3-6-2 overall, 1-2-2 MIAC) faced Augsburg College (4-4-1 overall, 2-4-0 MIAC) today at a neutral site for the third time this season. After a hard fought game with only one goal scored by each side, the Auggies scored four minutes into overtime to take home a victory.
The first period was scoreless until Augsburg's Sandra Hinz scored a shorthanded goal with a little over two minutes left. This made the score a 1-0 Auggie lead.
Despite 28 shots on goal for the last two periods, Augsburg held their 1 goal lead until senior Captain
Kerri Graske was able to score eight minutes into the third. This would tie the game 1-1 and send it into overtime.
With only about one minute left in OT, the MIAC's leading goal scorer Rachel Hennessy found the back of the net for the game winning shot.
This would put the Blazers at 3-6-2 on the season. They will have a long break to refocus before their next game on January 2 against Salve Regina in New Hampshire.
