BOX SCORE
The College of Saint Benedict (3-4-1 overall, 1-2-1 MIAC) was able to secure its first conference win of the season as they rolled past Augsburg College (3-2-1 overall, 2-2-1 MIAC) on the road and won 4-1.
The Blazers were able to put up four goals for the second consecutive game and did so with four different players. With an assist from first-year
Megan Brettingen, sophomore Allyson Nielsen began the Blazers night with a power play goal at the end of the first period. Brettingen then found the back of the net in the second period to put Saint Bens ahead 2-0. Less than a minute later, senior captain
Kerri Graske took advantage of another power play by putting one past the Auggies goaltender giving the Blazers a 3 goal lead.
After an early goal in the third, the Auggies pulled their goalie in a final effort to spark a comeback. First-year
Annie Gorman was able to put the puck into the empty net for her second goal in two games and secure a Saint Bens victory 4-1.
The first-year goaltender
Jenna Traut saved 23 of 24 shots on goal and improved her goals saved percentage to 94% this season.
This was a much needed win for the Blazer hockey team as they now look forward to hosting St. Catherine University (4-1-1 overall, 2-1-1 MIAC) on December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex. St. Catherine is currently tied for second place in the MIAC.
