The College of Saint Benedict Blazer volleyball team (18-13 overall) suffered a 3-2 loss to St. Scholastica (27-6 overall) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.

 St. Scholastica took the first set 25-23 to take an early 1-0 lead over the Blazers. Saint Benedict compiled 13 kills and earned a .205 kill percentage in the first set as they held the Saints to a .067 kill percentage. The Blazers answered back with a strong 25-18 second set victory to tie the match at 1-1. CSB took the lead 2-1 with a 25-23 third set win. Saint Benedict took the court with only one win away from advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. St. Scholastica took the fourth set 25-19 to force a fifth set. The Saints took the match with a 15-9 fifth set win over the Blazers.

Leading the Blazers on the attack in their final match of the season was sophomore outside hitter Lexi Alm (Stacy, MN, Forest Lake). Alm earned a double-double in today's match with 21 kills and 21 digs and generated a .250 kill percentage. First-year setter Taya Kockelman (Minneota, MN, Minneota) notched 52 set assists as sophomore libero Chelsea Rachel (Maple Lake, MN, Maple Lake) produced 26 digs. In the final match of her collegiate career, senior captain and outside hitter Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forest Lake) earned 25 digs and 13 kills.
