The College of Saint Benedict Blazer volleyball team (18-13 overall) suffered a 3-2 loss to St. Scholastica (27-6 overall) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon in Moorhead, Minn.
St. Scholastica took the first set 25-23 to take an early 1-0 lead over the Blazers. Saint Benedict compiled 13 kills and earned a .205 kill percentage in the first set as they held the Saints to a .067 kill percentage. The Blazers answered back with a strong 25-18 second set victory to tie the match at 1-1. CSB took the lead 2-1 with a 25-23 third set win. Saint Benedict took the court with only one win away from advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. St. Scholastica took the fourth set 25-19 to force a fifth set. The Saints took the match with a 15-9 fifth set win over the Blazers.
