Outshot 36-13 the College of Saint Benedict (2-7-3, 1-2-3) couldn't overcome the offensive attack by Concordia College in losing 2-1 tonight at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
In an overall physical game, the Cobbers broke open a scoreless tie late in the first period on a power play goal that got past first-year Blazer goalie

Allyson Nielsen (Alexandria, MN, Jefferson High School) responded early in the second when she scored her first collegiate goal to even the score 1-1. Nielsen was assisted on the play by senior forwards
Gretchen Leyendecker (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) and
Holly Reinking (Maple Grove, MN, Elk River). In what proved to be the game winner, Cobber defender scored at 08:17 in the third period to put Concordia ahead for good 2-1.
Blazer goalie Rolando made 34 saves in the game, including a whopping 23 in the second period alone.
The two teams are back in action in a matinee game tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm. The game, which will be played outdoors at Bernick's Rink, is the first outdoor women's hockey game in Division III history. Weather forecasts call for mostly cloudy with a high of 12 degrees.
