The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (9-6 overall, 2-0 MIAC) extends its streak to six matches with a 3-1 win over Bethel.
The Blazers started the first set strong with a 10-6 lead over the Royals. The teams exchanged points until the score was 17-13. At this point, CSB capitalized on a 4-0 run to lead 21-13, going on to win the set 25-18.
The Royals took an early 5-2 lead in the second set, but the Blazers managed to tie the score at seven. A few points later, the score was 10-10 before Bethel went on a 7-3 run to lead 17-13. CSB couldn't recover as the Royals took that set 25-19.
CSB came ready to play in the third set, jumping to a 10-4 lead. The Blazers continued to manage that lead with a score of 17-13. The Royals threatened to come back, bringing the score with three at 22-19, but CSB prevailed, stringing three points to win 25-19.
A 10-7 Blazer lead began the final set. The Royals managed to bring the score within one at 18-17 and 19-18, but couldn't jump ahead until the very end. CSB looked like they would win with ease as the scoreboard read 24-19, but Bethel scored five consecutive points to tie the score at 24. The Blazers won the next point, but the Royals retaliated, tying the score at 25. However, CSB prevailed, scoring the next two points to win 27-25.

Kayli Schumacher, who totalled 13 kills and a .370 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker
Calleigh Brown added 12 kills, while sophomore middle blocker
Shannon Bassett contributed 11 kills and a .381 hitting percentage. First-year setter
Kathryn Gaydos had 42 set assists, while senior libero
Amber Wortz had 15 digs.
Up next for CSB is a road trip to Minneapolis, MN, where they take on the Auggies of Augsburg on Fri., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
