The College of Saint Benedict Blazer soccer team (3-1 overall, 0-0 MIAC) defeated non-conference opponent University of Wisconsin-Stout (1-3 overall, 0-0 WIAC) 2-0 Saturday afternoon during UW-Stout's home opener.

The game was scoreless until the 82nd minute when junior midfielder Heather Beshears (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove), on a pass from sophomore midfielder Natalia Kruse (Shoreview, MN, Mounds View), chipped the ball over Blue Devil's goaltender Whitney Fenne.  Beshears gave the Blazers a 2-0 lead when she dribbled around Stout's goalkeeper with four seconds left in the game and buried the ball in the back of the net.

Senior goalkeepr Maija Schmelzer (Rochester, MN, John Marshall)got the win in net for the Blazers stopping all three of Stout's shots. Stout's goalkeeper Whitney Fenne stopped 11 of the Blazers shots on net.  

The Blazers host non-conference opponent Nebraska Wesleyan University on Sunday, September 12th, at 1p.m. in St. Joseph, MN.
