After a 3-1 loss in the afternoon, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (2-5 overall, 0-0 MIAC) defeated Augsburg 3-2 in the evening game at the Augsburg Invite.
After dropping the first two sets to the Auggies, CSB came back to win the next three. The scores were 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, and 15-13.
The Blazers were led by senior right side hitter
Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart) who totalled 15 kills and six blocks. Junior outside hitter
Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake) added 13 kills, while first-year setter
Kathyrn Gaydos (Savage, MN, Prior Lake) compiled 38 set assists for CSB. Senior middle hitter
Calleigh Brown (Buffalo, MN, Buffalo) also had eight kills and nine blocks.
CSB next plays Edgewood on Sat., Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. The Blazers will then play at either 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. depending on the outcome of the match.
