BOX SCORE

Hoping to build off momentum of a program defining 1-1 tie against rival Saint Thomas University the night before, the College of Saint Benedict was fell short in its quest as they fell 4-1 this afternoon at the Municipal Athletic Complex in Saint Cloud.

Both teams played fast, precision hockey leading to a scoreless first, before Saint Thomas broke open the game 05:07 into the second period when they were able to get by first-year Blazer goalie Kaitlyn Rolando (Lake Elmo, MN, Tartan High School). Playing with a 1-0 lead, the Tommies responded by scoring the next two goals before Blazer senior forward Gretchen Leyendecker (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) cut the deficit to 3-1. Leyendecker was assisted on the play by first-year forward Christine Brodersen (Shakopee, MN, Breck School) and senior forward Holly Reinking (Maple Grove, MN, Elk River) at 06:13 in the third period.

Junior forward Amie Ernst (North Mankato, MN, Mankato Loyola) led all Blazers with five shots on goal as Rolando stopped 32 shots.

The Blazers return after Thanksgiving break against Augsburg, 7:30 pm, at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
