Opening the season with an exhibition match on the road, the College of Saint Benedict blanked Robert Morris 3-0 tonight behind senior Abbie Helminen (Brighton, MI, Brighton (Belle Tire)) shutout in net. 

Helminen, the Blazers keeper of the crease, stopped all 29 shots she faced while junior Amie Ernst (North Mankato, MN, Mankato Loyola) recorded two goals for the team. 

“There were a lot of really good performances,” head coach Pat Michaud said. “We were able to score a power play goal and our penalty kill was four for four. It was a good start that we can build off tomorrow.” 

The Blazers return to action Saturday night for their second match against Robert Morris. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
