At the conclusion of Day One of the Minnesota-Iowa Border Battle, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (12-7 overall, 3-1 MIAC) finishes with a 2-0 tournament record after defeating Simpson 3-0.
Simpson led the first set with a 10-6 score, but CSB was able to come back and tie the score at 15. At this point, the Blazers went on a 4-0 run to lead 19-15. A .333 team hitting percentage in this set help the Blazers to win 25-19.
The second set started out close with a tied score at six a piece. The Blazers started to inch ahead, making the score 10-8. CSB then went on a 7-3 run to lead 17-11. The Blazers continued to extend their lead, eventually winning 25-14.
The Storm controlled the start of the final set, picking up a 10-4 lead over CSB. The Blazers slowly battled back, tying the score at 16. Here CSB took the lead and kept it for the remainder of the set, cruising to a 25-21 win.

Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart) again led the Blazers with 10 kills and six blocks. First-year setter
Kathyrn Gaydos (Savage, MN, Prior Lake) compiled 34 set assists, while senior libero
Amber Wortz (Fairfax, MN, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop) added 16 digs.
The Blazers continue tournament play tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. as they take on the Norse of Luther College.
