Blazers Suffer First MIAC Loss to Concordia 68-56

The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (9-2 overall, 7-1 MIAC) suffered its first conference loss to Concordia 68-56, snapping the Blazers' seven-game winning streak.

The Blazers started out with a 7-4 lead in the first half, but Concordia managed to tie the score at 10 with 12 minutes remaining.  The Cobbers were riding on the Blazers' heels, grabbing three one-point leads but never getting further ahead until five minutes remaining on the clock.  At this point, Concordia picked up the lead for good, pulling ahead 34-28 at the half.

Despite a 12-point Cobber lead with 18 minutes left on the clock, the Blazers never gave up, bringing the gap within one at 47-46 with nine minutes remaining.  CSB, however, only shot 33% from the field in the second half and could never regain the lead, eventually losing 68-56.

Leading the Blazers was junior point guard Devin Bowlin (Winona, MN, Winona Cotter), who scored 13 points off of 5-for-6 from the field, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc.  Junior post Heather Gillund (Ham Lake, MN, Blaine) also contributed nine points and dominated the boards with 13 rebounds.
