The Blazers were hoping of repeat from last year 5-4, but Carleton snuck past them 4-5. The College of Saint Benedict tennis team had their first loss of the season to Carleton on Sunday February 15th.
Blazers started off with a lead of 2-1 after the doubles matches. Sophomore Kylie Huether (Sioux Falls, SD , Washington) and first-year Sarah Rossman (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) started strong in doubles with a quick 8-2 win. Junior Katie Rudnitski (Gilman, MN, Foley) and first-year Lauren Jones (Ogden, UT, Saint Joseph Catholic) had a suspenseful match going back and forth, but captured a victory of 9-7. CSB fell short in the singles with two wins out of six. Junior Rachel Tiegs (Rochester, MN, Lourdes) came back after a 2-6 loss to win 6-0 and captured a super tie-breaker 10-6. Jones played tough and captured 7-6, 7-6 win.
Blazers return to the court on Friday February 20th at Gold's Gym at 6:00 pm to host Division I, University of North Dakota.
