The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team defeated Loras College 3-0 this afternoon in the team's first match of the Battle of the Border Tournament for head coach Michelle Blaeser's 175th win of her head coaching career.

The Blazers won the sets 25-20, 25-22 and 25-16.  They had a .236 team hitting percentage and five service aces, holding Loras to a .102 hitting percentage.

Senior outside hitter Emma Jaynes (Hibbing, MN, Hibbing) led CSB with 13 kills and only one error for a .387 hitting percentage.  Jaynes also picked up 12 digs.  Junior right side hitter Kayli Schumacher (East Grand Forks, MN, Sacred Heart) had a .438 hitting percentage off of nine kills.  Sophomore outside hitter Chelsie Sobieck (Wyoming, MN, Forrest Lake) led the team with 18 digs and three blocks, while senior setter Beth Hanson (Faribault, MN, Bethlehem Academy) contributed 36 assists.

Up next, the Blazers battle Central College at 6 p.m. this evening in the second match of the tournament.
