The College of Saint Benedict basketball team struggled to score in a 61-41 loss to the University of St. Thomas tonight, giving the Blazers their first MIAC loss of the season.
The Blazers, struggled to score, making only 28% of their total field goals. Until tonight, they had averaged 6.5 3-pointers per game, but were a mere 2-for-27 from behind the arc.
CSB and UST were operating on opposite ends of the spectrum during the first half. For every shot the Blazers missed, the Tommies made one in return and held a lead of 31-17 at the end of the half. The teams were evenly matched with 24 points each in the second half, but CSB couldn't make up the difference. They lost by a final score of 61-41.
The Blazers, however, stayed strong on defense, forcing 24 Tommie turnovers while only commiting 11.
CSB was led by senior
Nikki Carter (Edina, MN, Edina), who had 10 points and both of the team's 3-point shots. Sophomore
Danielle Frank (Caledonia, MN, Caledonia) also scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
