The College of Saint Benedict Blazers (5-3 MIAC, 10-4 overall) defeated the Loras College Duhawks (2-1 IIAC, 8-4 overall) today at Saint John's University , 2-1.  The Blazers tied the game and went on to score for the win in a two minute span.  

The first half was scoreless for both teams, and the Blazers only put up five shots to the Duhawks' four shots.  The Blazers were presented with many opportunities to score, with nine corner kicks in the first half.  Regardless of an early second half goal for the Duhawks, the Blazers' performance improved dramatically in the second half.

Senior forward Tina Lisk (Louisville, CO, Monarch) took advantage of senior Sam Vanderlinde (Maple Plain, MN , Watertown-Mayer ) corner kick and tied the game 1-1 at the 79:31 mark.  However, the Blazers were determined to break the tie quickly.  First year midfielder Heather Beshears (Maple Grove, MN, Maple Grove) scored the winning goal at 81:08, with Lisk passing her the ball for the clutch shot.  The Blazers outshot the Duhakws 12 to 3 in the second half.  Junior goalkeeper Shannon Strohm (Burnsville, MN, Apple Valley ) had six saves.

The Blazers will face another MIAC foe, the Saint Mary's Cardinals, on Saturday, October 18th at 1 p.m. in Winona, Minn.
