ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Two weekends ago, Mallory Jarvi recorded one personal best for the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team.

That new career-best didn’t last long, as she beat it again this week, and added a second career-best mark for good measure.

Jarvi recorded career-best marks in the one- and three-meter diving competitions Saturday in CSB’s dual at St. Thomas. Both marks are the second-best scores in CSB swim and dive history, and were good enough to win both events. For her big weekend, Jarvi is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.

At the Roger Ahlman Invite on Nov. 10, Jarvi recorded a career-best mark on the three-meter board and moved just nine points shy of the school record. Saturday at UST, Jarvi bested that score by three points to move within six of the school record. Jarvi’s score of 256.94 beat out the second-place competitor by 20 points, is a new PR by three points and is just six points shy of the school record of 262.80, set in 1997 by Katie Macy.

Jarvi was just as good on the one-meter board Saturday afternoon, as she posted a winning score of 253.56 – 37 points ahead of the second-place finisher, a 20-point personal best and 11 points away from the school record of 264.60, also set in 1997 by Macy.

As well as moving into second in school history in both events, both of Saturday’s scores also put Jarvi in the top spot in the conference on both the one- and three-meter boards.

After her impressive performances this weekend, Jarvi is second in CSB history in both the one- and three-meter boards for six dives, and fifth in school history on the one-meter, 11 dive list and seventh on the three-meter, 11-dive list.

Jarvi and her teammates are off now until Saturday, Dec. 8, when they head to St. Paul to take on St. Kate’s in a MIAC dual.
