ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – As a first year in 2018, Elisabeth Dalki was only able to compete at one meet during the outdoor track and field season.
At last week’s meet – her first outdoor meet with the College of Saint Benedict track and field team as a sophomore – Dalki smashed her collegiate-best mark and moved into the top 10 in program history. This past weekend, Dalki improved on her personal best yet again.
After recording her second personal best in as many meets – and winning the pole vault competition amongst a talented field at a large Hamline Invite – Dalki is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
On March 30 at the CSB/SJU Invite, Dalki took advantage of competing in her home fieldhouse, recording a collegiate-best mark of 3.41 meters. That won the event and put her name in the CSB outdoor track and field record books. Just one week later at the Hamline Invite, Dalki outdid herself again.
As one of 22 competitors Saturday – including several Division II Minnesota-Duluth athletes – Dalki finished first for the second time this season, and improved on her personal best by two centimeters. Her mark of 3.43 meters improves on the fifth-best mark in program history, leads the MIAC by five centimeters and is currently ranked in the top 50 in Division III.
Dalki’s latest mark is also a collegiate best both indoor and outdoor. She recorded a mark of 3.36 meters during the 2018 indoor season, and finished with a season-best mark of 3.13 meters in 2019 during her sophomore indoor campaign. Dalki earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention indoor honors as a first year and took fourth to earn honorable mention for a second straight season in 2019.
Dalki and her teammates are scheduled to compete at home again this Saturday, April 13, at the CSB/SJU Outdoor Invite. Stay tuned to gobennies.com for schedule changes and weather updates, or follow CSB athletics on Twitter @csb_athletics.
