ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Allison Kirk has a knack for scoring goals at just the right times.
Earlier this season, Kirk scored her first goal of the year to get the Blazers on the board in a 2-2 overtime tie against No. 9 Gustavus.
She scored her second goal of the season Saturday to lift CSB to a 3-2 overtime victory against Concordia-Wisconsin to give the Blazers a split on the weekend. For her timely goal, Kirk has been named the CSB Athlete of the Week.
Kirk, who is tied for third on the team with three points so far this season, started the weekend with an assist in the Blazers’ 3-2 loss to CUW Friday night. She had a hand in Elli Marvin’s goal that put CSB up 1-0 – a lead that held until the third period.
Saturday night it was the Falcons who scored early in the first period, but the Blazers tied the game in the second. CSB took a 2-1 lead late in the third, but CUW tied the game with less than one minute to play to send the game to overtime.
Kirk lifted the Blazers to a 3-2 victory with her goal 2:49 into the overtime off an assist from Marvin. Her late goal helped the Blazers pick up their first home win of the year. CSB is now 3-6-1 overall.
Kirk’s goal Saturday marked her second of the season, and her assist Friday night was her first so far as a junior. She has three points and 10 shots on net so far in 2015-16.
The Blazers are off now until Jan. 8-9, 2016, when they host St. Norbert in a pair of nonconference games at the MAC.
