ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Jenna Traut has been a constant for the College of Saint Benedict hockey team all season.

The senior goalie has started in all 14 games in 2014-15, and has been in the net the majority of those 14 games. This weekend, Traut's strong play in goal helped Saint Benedict pick up a win and a tie against St. Kate's and maintain its spot in the top six in the MIAC.

For her big weekend, Traut has been named the Blazer Athlete of the Week, it was announced Monday morning.

Friday night in St. Paul, Traut made 25 saves against the Wildcats to help the Blazers to a 3-1 win – their fourth conference win of the season. She made 12 stops in the second period alone to help CSB come away with the victory.

Saturday, Traut, a St. Cloud, Minn., native, made 27 saves in the Blazers' 1-1 overtime tie with St. Kate's. She made 11 third-period stops to help send the game into overtime, and stopped all three of the Wildcats' shots in the five-minute overtime period. Traut ended the weekend with 52 total saves.

Traut, who earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors as a junior in 2013-14, currently leads the MIAC with 341 total saves, and she is second in the league in minutes played (775:31). She is 5-7-2 and has a .895 save percentage and a 3.09 goals-against average.

Thanks to Traut's stops against the Wildcats, the Blazers are in a three-way tie for fifth place heading into this weekend's series with conference-leader Gustavus. CSB, Augsburg and Concordia are all 4-4-2 in the MIAC. The Gusties – ranked No. 6 in Division III – lead the league with a 9-0-1 record and St. Thomas is second at 7-1-2. The top six teams in the conference make the postseason tournament at the end of February.

Last year, Traut and the Blazers swept the Gusties – a program first – winning 4-2 in St. Peter and again the next night in St. Cloud. The 2014-15 series starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 in St. Peter, and the two teams come to St. Cloud for a 4:15 p.m. game Saturday, Jan. 31 at the MAC.
