Mattie Parsons begins her fifth season as an assistant coach for the College of Saint Benedict volleyball program in 2020. Parsons works with CSB’s setters.
In her first four seasons, Parsons has coached a pair of All-MIAC setters in Megan Pekarek and Katie Koch. Pekarek earned Honorable Mention All-American honors under Parsons' watch in 2017 along with All-MIAC honors, and Koch earned All-MIAC accolades in both 2018 and 2019. In 2019, Koch reached the 2,000-assist milestone, and Parsons was part of the team's Elite 8 appearance.
Parsons, a Lakeville native, played volleyball at North Dakota State University from 2006-09. She was named the Independent Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2006, and was a five-time Newcomer of the Week in the Independent Conference that same year. She was also the Independent Conference’s three-time setter of the week in her first season at NDSU, and she was named the Summit League’s Setter of the Year in 2007.
After graduating from NDSU with a degree in exercise science and a minor in psychology, Parsons obtained a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha.
Parsons was an all-state, all-conference and all-metro athlete at Lakeville North in 2005, and she was part of back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2003 and 2004. She has worked at various camps in North Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota, and she is currently employed at the Saint Cloud Hospital in Acute Care and Inpatient Rehab as an occupational therapist. She and her husband, Ryan, have two children.
