Emily Heying returns to the CSB tennis team as an assistant coach for her fourth season in 2019-20.
After helping the team to double-digit wins in two of her first three seasons with the program - including 12 in 2017-18, the most for the team since 2013-14 - Heying helped guide the team to an 8-0 record to start the season. That marked CSB's best start since 2005-06.
Heying played four years of varsity tennis at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. She played in the top three singles spots all four years, and graduated sixth all-time in school history in doubles wins and eighth in singles wins. Heying was the team MVP in 2006-7.
Heying, an assistant professor of nutrition at CSB|SJU, graduated from Wartburg in 2010, and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014 with a PhD in nutritional sciences. She served as an assistant coach for the Edgewood College tennis team in 2013-14, and was the CSB ultimate frisbee club team's assistant coach in 2015.
