Kate Shaughnessy's Video Comments

2008: Very quick… reliable and versatile player who can play multiple positions …good passer.

2007: Started in four of the 17 games that she played in… recorded 11 shots scoring one goal and three assists… scored her one goal of the season in a 3-1 victory against St. Mary’s (Oct. 19, 2007).

2006: Made two starts and played in eight games at the forward position for Saint Benedict … collected two shots during the year and provided versatility to the Blazer offensive attack.

2005: Started in eight out of the 16 games she played for Saint Benedict … registered 15 shots on the season and collected two goals and assist giving her five total points … her two goals came in back-to-back games during the season … she scored her first goal during the 2-0 victory over St. Catherine’s (Sept. 28, 2006) … Shaughnessy scored the eventual game-winning goal in Saint Benedict’s 2-0 victory over Carleton (Oct. 1, 2006). 

High School: A 2005 graduate of St. Louis Park High School, Shaughnessy was coached by Kris Kent … participated in soccer (four years), track and field (four years) and gymnastics (two years) during her athletic career at St. Louis Park … was All-Classic Lake Conference soccer team honorable mention in 2004 … holds her high school’s 55 meter hurdles record in track competition.

Personal: Daughter of Patrick and Sandra Shaughnessy of St. Louis Park, Minn. … enjoys soccer, track, running, watching movies, politics, reading, painting and traveling … majoring in political science and psychology with a minor in history.

Proudest moment of soccer career: “Playing against a former high school teammate at St. Catherine during my first year. It was a fun hard-fought game.”

What do you like about being a collegiate student-athlete? “Athletics helps me balance my priorities and schedule.  Additionally, it gives me the opportunity to play the game I love and meet some great teammates.”
