Head Soccer Coach Steve Kimble, who is in his 17th season, has directed his teams to top-four MIAC finishes on 10 occasions, including a third place finish in 2023 when CSB was 9-6-3 overall with an 6-3-2 mark record in league play. Kimble also serves the College as the Director of Club Sports.

Overall, Kimble has a 154-90-35 record at Saint Benedict with a 97-52-16mark in conference play. CSB has recorded winning seasons in 13 of his 16 years with the program.

Kimble has coached three All-Americans, two MIAC Players of the Year, one MIAC Rookie of the Year, 21 All-Region athletes, 37 All-MIAC athletes and 22 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections.

Seven times, Kimble has directed CSB to top-3 finishes in the MIAC, including winning championships in 2011 and 2013. Twice he has directed teams to NCAA Tournament berths. In 2011 his team finished 13-7-3 and 8-2-1 and a tie for first in the MIAC. The Bennies advanced to the NCAA "Sweet 16" as he was the MIAC Coach of the Year and the NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year. Two years later in 2013, Kimble was the MIAC Soccer Coach of the Year after advancing to the NCAA Tourney. He led his team to a 16-3-1 record and won the MIAC regular season title after a 9-2 season.  In both 2021 (11-4-3, 8-1-2) and the 2022 (12-5-2, 8-2-1), Kimble directed CSB to second place finishes in the MIAC. His teams have finished top four in four of the past five regular seasons. And, 11 times, he has led his team to the MIAC Playoffs.

He began his coaching career in 1995 as a St. Cloud Soccer Club coach and director of coaching education, a position he held until 2002. From 1998-2002 he worked with Sartell High School as the assistant girls’ soccer coach and track and field throws coach. Kimble also assisted with the SJU track and field program in 2000. From 2003 to 2008, Kimble served as a coach and Director of Coaching for the Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association. In addition, he has been a Coerver Coaching Camp clinician and camp director.

From there, he went on to Brainerd High School where he was hired as head girls’ soccer and track and field pole vault coach. In a successful run with the girls’ soccer program he was named Section 8AA coach of the year twice, won five consecutive conference titles and qualified twice for the state tournament. In his last five years at Brainerd, Kimble’s record against Central Lakes Conference opponents was 58-5-3.

He graduated from Sartell High School in 1995 and went on to attend Saint John’s University, graduating in 1999. While attending SJU, Kimble earned All-American honors as a decathlete with the SJU track and field program and earned a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University and completed a second Master’s degree in sports administration from St. Cloud State in spring 2015.
