Biography

CAREER:  Career recording holder in season three pointers for MIAC and CSB with 84 and owns career mark of 193… has 44 double-digit scoring games, made three or more triples 10 times this year…averaging 10.9 points per game (16th all-time at CSB) in her career…has six 20-point games in her career….has made six triples in a game three times in her career, including twice in 2023-24 (UW-River Falls, Minnesota Morris). In her career, she is averaging 30.5 minutes per game and has hit 285-of-783 field goals for 36.4 percent, 193-of-538 three-pointers for 35.9 percent. Those 538 attempted threes by Jonas are also most in CSB school history. She is 64-of-84 for 76.2 percent in career free throws with 173 rebounds, 122 assists and 62 steals. Jonas had a career-high 26 points at UW-River Falls on Nov. 16, 2023, and recorded five assists three times, including against Hamline on Jan. 20, 2024.
 
2023-24:  Earned a second straight All-MIAC honor in 2023-24… had a record-breaking year after averaging 11.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game in 24 games in 2023-24.. ranked first in the MIAC and 20th in NCAA DIII with 2.71 three pointers per game…set the MIAC/school record holder in season three pointers with 84 a year ago and followed up with 65 in 2023-24, which ranked second in the MIAC… set the Bennies' career three-point record with 193 in 76 games (65 starts). Named the CSB invite Tournament MVP, she was named MIAC Offensive Basketball Player of the Week twice Nov. 13, and Nov. 20, 2023. Jonas, who was honorable mention All-MIAC as a first-year standout, is one of two players in CSB history (Laura Wendorff) to earn the MIAC weekly honor four times…had a career-high 26 points vs UW-River Falls on 11/16/23..had six rebounds at Bethel on 2/14/24…recorded five assists on 1/20/24 against Hamline...12 times reached double digits with three games of 20 points or more.

2022-23: Earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors... Named to the All-MIAC team... twice earned All-MIAC Player of the Week honors (Dec. 5, 12)...broke MIAC record for 3 pointers in a season with 84 and broke MIAC record for most 3-pointers in conference games with 66... set new CSB record for most 3-pointers in a single season with 84 (fifth in NCAA DIII and first in MIAC) and attempts with 210 (24th in DIII and first in MIAC) for 40 percent (14th in DIII and third in MIAC)... with 3.11 threes per game, ranked ninth in DIII and first in MIAC...started in all 27 games... played 900 total minutes (33.4 per game)...made 118-of-311 field goals for 37.9 percent...was 28-of-36 in free throws for 77.8 percent...averaged 12.9 points per game... recorded 61 rebounds or 2.3 per game... recorded 33 assists or 1.2 per game... third on the team for steals with 22 (0.8 per game)...recorded double digit points 23 times...second highest scorer on the team with 348 points for the season; scoring a season-high 22 points against Augsburg on Dec. 3...had two 20-point games and 23 games in double-digit points...18 times had three or more triples in a game...nine times made four or more 3s and six times made five in a game with a season/career best six against Carleton (nine attempts) on Jan. 16, 2023.

2021-22: Played in 24 games as a first year...earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors...was third on the team in points this season with 210 points or 8.4 points per game...scored a career-high 23 points against St. Olaf...had a career-high 8 rebounds against St. Scholastica...had 50 rebounds or 2.2 per game...played 660 minutes total...recorded 38 assists, 15 steal and four steals...nine times had double-figures with a career high of 23 vs. St. Olaf on Jan. 10, 2022, hitting 7-of-12 field goals and 5-of-8 from three-point range...nine times had three or more triples with four or more twice and a high of five...made 74-of-221 field goals for 33.5 percent, knocking in 44-of-149 triples for 29.5 percent...was 18-of-21 from the free throw line for 85.7 percent.

High School: Sophia graduated from Hudson High school in 2021 and she played tennis and basketball. She was all-conference and was given an All-State honorable mention. She earned all-conference first team honors her sophomore through senior seasons, and was named the Big Rivers Conference and All-Northwest players of the year as a senior. She also earned all-state honorable mention that year, and scored more than 1,000 points in her career. She is also a four-time academic all-conference honoree. Her proudest moments are going to state for basketball and tennis.

Personal: Sophia enjoys being able to play the sport she loves while getting college education and meeting new friends. Her parents are Kim and Scott Jonas. Sophia enjoys spending time with friends, going shopping, baking and watching movies. An accounting major, she is also part of the CSB tennis team.
