2020-21: Saw playing time in all nine of the team's games as a senior in a season shortened due to the COVID19 pandemic ... earned Honorable Mention All-American honors - the team's first WBCA All-American since 2010-11 ... also named to the WBCA Division III All-Star Team ... earned d3hoops.com All-West Region First-Team accolades ... named the team's MVP at the end of the season ... led the MIAC in scoring (18.8) and rebounding (12.0) ... recorded a career-best 25 points and 18 rebounds in the team's first game of the seaosn on Feb. 3 against Concordia ... finished the year with eight double-doubles and five games with 20 points or more ... also finished with 11 steals and eight assists ... went 12-for-12 from the line on Feb. 6 against Hamline.

2019-20: Played in all 25 games and started 20 ... averaged 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game ... scored a season-best 23 points on Jan. 29 at Gustavus and Feb. 12 against Macalester ... recorded a season-high 13 rebounds at Saint Mary's on Jan. 15 ... scored in double digits 10 times ... shot a career-best .440 from the field ... finished with 25 steals and 24 assists.

2018-19: Started in 26 games ... earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention ... named the team's Coach's Award winner at the end of the season ... averaged 30.3 minutes per game ... grabbed 94 defensive rebounds and 160 total rebounds ... finished the season with 316 points ... had 25 steals and three blocks ... averaged 12.2 points per game ... had 24 assists.  

2017-18: Appeared in all 27 games ... averaged 15.8 minutes per game ... finished sixth on the team in scoring at 5.6 points per game ... grabbed 80 rebounds, averaging 3.0 per game ... dished out 20 assists and four steals. 

High School: Schmitz is a 2017 graduate of Albany High School. She played four years of softball and basketball, earning all-conference in both softball (2016 and 2017) and basketball (2016 and 2017). She also won all-section (2016 and 2017) and all-state (2017) in softball, as well as all-section in basketball (2017). Her proudest moment in her basketball career was ending a rival’s season and scoring her 1,000^th point in sub-section semi-finals.

Personal: Maddie is the daughter of Joel and Laura Schmitz. She has one brother, Avery. Off the court, she enjoys watching sports and being outdoors. She likes the challenge that time management that is presented by being a collegiate student-athlete. She plans to major in physics while at CSB/SJU.
