Alison (Newton) Kendall begins her seventh season as an assistant coach with the Saint Benedict women's basketball team in 2023-24 after enjoying a stellar playing career at CSB.Â
During her time at CSB, the Bennies have a 85-55 record including 59-44 in MIAC play. A year ago in 2022-23, CSB was 18-9 and 14-8 for third in the conference.
In her playing career, Kendall earned MIAC Honorable Mention honors in addition to earning conference academic honors. In her junior season in 2015-16, she received First Team All-MIAC honors and was named to the All-MIAC Defensive Team, making her the first CSB athlete to earn both honors since 2009-10. As a junior she averaged 8.5 points, and 3.0 rebounds with the team high in assists at 60. She received the team's Coach's Award honor her senior year, the team MVP honor her junior season, and was voted Most Improved her sophomore season.Â
She appeared in 94Â total games and made 52 starts for CSB in her four seasons. She finished with 503 points, 247 rebounds, 171 assists and 76 steals in her career.
Kendall is a 2013 Pine Island High School graduate, and is a native of Oronoco, Minn. She is married to Alex Kendall, a former SJU baseball athlete.
