High School: Nelson graduated from Big Lake High School in 2015. She played basketball and ran track for four years. In 2015, she received all-conference honors, was the team MVP, the Top Defensive Player and was the team’s assist leader. In 2014, she was the MVP of her team and received all-conference honorable mention accolades.  She earned all-conference honorable mention track honors in 2013 and 2015 and all-conference accolades in 2012. She also earned academic all-state honors as a senior. Nelson played for the Comets Elite AAU basketball team.
 
Personal: Nelson is the daughter of Shannon and Troy Nelson. She has two sisters named Kelsey and Ashley.  She plans to major in Biology at CSB/SJU.
