Biography
2018: Competed in six meets in her first year with the cross country team ... finished second at the Fall Finale in 20:01 ... ran a career-best 6K time of 25:14.9 at the Eau Claire Invite ... also finished top 65 at the Twin Cities Twilight and Colorado Invite.
2017-18: Competed with the CSB basketball team and during the outdoor track and field season ... did not compete in cross country.
High School: Merten is a 2017 graduate of Holdingford High School. She swam for one year, ran five years of track and cross country, and played four years of basketball. She received all-conference awards in basketball (2016, 2017), cross country (2011-15 and 2017), and track (2012 and 2014-17). In basketball she also received all-section (2016) and all-section honorable mention (2017). Her proudest moment in basketball was when she made a winning shot under pressure and her team stormed the court.
Personal: Johanna is the daughter of Ileana and Kelly. Being a collegiate student-athlete, she says, pushes her to work harder to achieve her full potential. She is undecided on her major.
