ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - After enjoying a midweek home match, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team will return to the road for a Friday night contest at No. 4 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Sept. 18. Action is set for 7 p.m. inside Sonnentag Event Center. 

 

CSB (6-4) enters the bout off a four-set loss to University of Wisconsin-Stout Wednesday night, Sept. 16. Seniors Kali Jones (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Kate Stadum (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) led the offense with 14 kills apiece. Stadum's career-high in kills came on a .281 clip.  Sophomore Ginny Schuler (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) led the team in assists, totaling a career-best 26. On the defensive end, Jones posted a team-best 18 digs, recording her eighth double-double performance of the season. Stadum set a career-high with six blocks to lead the Bennies. 

 

Jones leads the offense with 139 kills, averaging 3.39 per set on a .207 attack percentage. Her 139 kills rank seventh in Division III, while she sits fourth nationally in points with 165. Jones enters the match needing 26 kills to eclipse the 1000 career kills mark. She would become the 16th player in program history to hit the mark and the eighth player to achieve 1000 kills and 1000 digs in her career, having hit the digs milestone Sept. 5 against Cornell College. Stadum sits second on the team in kills with 75, averaging 2.08 per set on a .245 clip. Sophomore Karley Dunham (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) rounds out the top three with 68 kills.  

 

Junior Izzy Torve (Loretto, Minn./Orono) and Schuler have orchestrated the majority of the attack all season, which ranks seventh in team assists (443) and kills (480) nationally. Torve tops the team with 193 assists, averaging 4.71 per set, while Schuler closely trails with 191 assists, an average of 4.66 per set. From the service line, Jones leads the way with 18 aces, followed by Stadum's 17 and 12 from fellow senior Libby Burns (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer). 

 

Defensively, Jones leads the team in digs with 139, averaging 3.39 per set. Sophomore Brooke Siegle (Norwood Young America, Minn./Waconia) is second with 99, an average of 2.54 per set. First-year Kaelyn Wittwer's (Delano, Minn./Delano) 78 digs are good for third. Making an immediate impact at the net, Dunham tops the team with 38 blocks, a mark that ranks 11th in Division III. Sophomore Sydney Elliott (Saint Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) is second with 19 stuffs, followed by 15 rejections from senior Brooke Andries (Marshall, Minnn./Marshall).  

 

Saint Benedict will battle UWEC (6-1) for the 45th time, dating back to 1984. The Blugolds hold a slim 23-21 edge in the series and have won the last five meetings. Most recently, CSB fell in four sets Sept. 27, 2025. Jones led the Bennies with 15 kills, while Burns notched a team-high three aces. Torve and Schuler were the masterminds behind the attack, finishing with 18 and 12 assists, respectively. Chaeli Haupert totaled a team-leading 14 digs, while Mackenzie Knofsznski led the way with three blocks. UW-Eau Claire comes into the match off a sweep of Bethel University Wednesday night, Sept. 16.
