Tuccitto scores 10th career goal in (RV) CSB Hockey's setback to No. 5 Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The (RV) College of Saint Benedict hockey team (11-4-4, 6-3-3 MIAC) dropped a 5-1 MIAC decision to No. 5 Hamline (15-3-1, 9-2-1 MIAC) at TRIA Rink on Saturday.

CSB, now 11-4-4 overall and 6-3-3 in conference play, received its goal from junior Ella Tuccitto (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), who scored early in the third period to pull the Bennies within 3-1. Sophomore Jorja Jusczak (Moose Lake, Minn.) assisted on the goal at the 2:24 mark, recording her second assist of the season. On the play, Tuccitto scored her sixth goal of the season and 10th of her career.

Hamline took a lead late in the opening period when Annika Lindgren netted her sixth goal of the season with one minute remaining. Abigail Chamermick picked up her 16th assist for a 1-0 lead. The Pipers extended the advantage early in the second period as Grace Delmonico scored her 10th goal at 2:39, assisted by Nina Thorson. Hamline made it 3-0 midway through the period on an unassisted goal by Iyla Ryskamp, her fifth of the season.

Tuccitto's goal early in the third period gave CSB a boost, cutting the deficit to 3-1, but Hamline responded with a pair of even-strength goals later in the frame. Maddy Belisle scored at 11:54, followed by Ellie Newpower's sixth goal of the season at 14:18, with Ashlyn Abrahamson assisting on both tallies to bring her season total to 11 assists.

The Pipers held a 38-15 edge in shots, including an 11-4 advantage in the second period and a 15-6 margin in the third. CSB sophomore goaltender Lexi Badali (St. John, Ind.) turned aside 30 shots in the effort.

The Bennies were competitive in the face-off circle, winning 47.2 percent (25-of-53), highlighted by first-year Helena Siska (Naperville, Ill.), who went 10-of-16 for a 62.5 percent success rate. CSB also won 11 of 17 draws in the second period.

CSB is tied for third in the MIAC standings with 23 points and will return home for a home-and-home conference series against (RV) Gustavus Adolphus on Feb. 6-7. The Bennies host the Gusties at Ritsche Arena in St. Cloud, Minn., on Friday at 6 p.m., before traveling to St. Peter, Minn., for a 2 p.m., matchup Saturday.
