ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (0-4) fell 4-0 to No. 4-ranked Emory (3-0) on Sunday afternoon at CSB Turf Field.
Emory struck twice in the first half to take control. Sophia Asiain opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute, followed by Mikayla Camp's third goal of the season—assisted by Jaymie Frith—at the 31-minute mark. Camp added her second of the game and fourth of the season in the 64th minute, assisted by Jessica Nastasi. Kaitlyn Nimmer capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute.
The Eagles outshot CSB 28-8 overall, including an 18-3 edge in the first half. Emory also held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. CSB goalkeeper
Claire McGrath tallied 12 saves in 90 minutes of action, bringing her season total to 21.
First-year
Elly Prairie led the Bennies with three shots on goal, while
Summer Seamans and
Lucy Petschel each added one. Despite several scoring opportunities, CSB was unable to break through.
After wrapping up a two-game homestand that included a 2-1 loss to Wartburg, the Bennies hit the road for back-to-back games in Wisconsin. They face UW-Eau Claire at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, followed by UW-Oshkosh at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. CSB returns home to take on St. Scholastica at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
