Siegle, McManus lead (RV) CSB Volleyball to 3-0 win over Emerson at UMass Boston Tourney

BOSTON, Mass. – First-year standouts Brooke Siegle (eight kills) and Keira McManus (six kills) powered the (RV) College of Saint Benedict volleyball team to its fifth straight win to open the season, sweeping Emerson 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-19) at the UMass Boston Tournament on Friday (Sept. 5).

The Bennies (5-0), which received votes in the most recent AVCA/Taraflex DIII National Poll, are off to their best start since 2013 and made the most of their first-ever meeting against Emerson, hitting .222 as a team with 36 kills on 117 total attacks. Siegle led the way with eight kills, hitting .200 while also adding five digs and two service aces. McManus was close behind with six kills and a .267 hitting percentage.

CSB's all-around effort included 19 assists from Izzy Torve, 18 digs and five kills from Kali Jones, and strong serving from senior Chaeli Haupert, who chipped in 15 digs (948 career) and three service aces. Brooke Andries added five kills on 14 swings with a team-best .357 hitting mark. Jones now has 598 kills and surpassed 600 digs (614).

The Bennies started strong with a .273 hitting percentage in the opening set, tallying 11 kills on 33 attacks en route to a dominant 25-14 win. They followed with 13 kills in a tighter 25-21 second set and closed the match with 12 kills on 32 swings in a 25-19 third set victory.

Saint Benedict returns to action on Saturday with two more tournament matchups: Salem State at 12:30 p.m. and host UMass Boston at 5:30 p.m.
