ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Junior shortstop
Olivia Tautges of the College of Saint Benedict softball team (8-8), who hit .615 with a .923 slugging mark in three wins over the weekend, has been named the St. Cloud Orthopedics / CSB Athlete of the Week.
Tautges, a Brainerd, Minn., native, went 8-for-13 at the plate during the weekend, tallying six RBIs and leading CSB to a 3-1 record. The team split a doubleheader with Coe College and swept Grinnell, with Tautges contributing in every game. She finished the weekend with a .615 batting average, a .688 on-base percentage, and a .923 slugging percentage, resulting in a 1.611 OPS.
In addition to her impressive offensive output, Tautges was flawless defensively, playing shortstop with a perfect fielding percentage. She recorded five putouts and nine assists during the weekend's action.
Highlights of her performance include a 3-for-3 outing with two RBIs and a walk in a 3-1 victory over Coe College, a 2-for-4 showing with an RBI in a narrow 5-4 loss, and a 2-for-3 performance with a run and three RBIs in a dominant 16-7 win over Grinnell. In the final game of the weekend, she recorded a hit in three at-bats, scored two runs, and drew a walk in a 13-1 victory.
Over the last six games, Tautges has continued to lead the team, hitting .500 with nine hits in 18 at-bats, scoring three runs, driving in six RBIs, and slugging .722. She also boasts a .625 on-base percentage and has recorded two triples.
On the season, Tautges, who was named a third-team NFCA All-American and the MIAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, is hitting a team-leading .368 with a 1.078 OPS. She has two home runs, four triples (tied for 1st in the MIAC), two doubles, and 14 RBIs, accumulating 37 total bases. Her .649 slugging percentage and .429 on-base percentage further highlight her offensive prowess.
For her career, Tautges is hitting .380 with 82 hits, 12 doubles, four triples, 18 home runs, and 63 RBIs. She ranks third in CSB history for home runs, second in career slugging percentage (.718), and seventh in career on-base percentage (.433).
Tautges and the CSB softball team will return to action on Friday, April 4, when they open MIAC play against St. Olaf in Northfield, Minn.
