Morgan and Driste lead CSB Basketball past Nebraska Wesleyan, 86-57

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa — Behind a pair of standout performances from Megan Morgan and Megan Driste, the College of Saint Benedict surged to its second straight win Sunday, rolling past Nebraska Wesleyan 86–57 to close out a perfect weekend at the Cornell Classic.

The Bennies, now 4–1, dominated both tournament games, opening with a 75–42 win over Dubuque before finishing with Sunday's emphatic victory. CSB outscored its opponents 161–99 across the two-game sweep.

Morgan (Winona, Minn.) delivered a season-best 18 points, hitting 7-of-10 from the floor and 2-of-4 from deep while pulling down eight rebounds and adding three assists. Across the tourney, the senior totaled 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting (.687), including three made threes, along with nine rebounds.

Driste (Sartell, Minn.) produced a breakout game of her own with career highs in points (17), assists (5), made field goals (6) and three-pointers (4). She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, while also contributing three steals and two rebounds.

Kira Young (Hudson, Wis.) reached double figures for the third time this season with 11 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Drew Buslee (Eagan, Minn.) packed the stat sheet with eight points, and career-highs in rebounds with seven and assists with seven. Junior Emily Crandall (Sartell, Minn.) added a career-high nine points and three boards.

CSB controlled the game on both ends, shooting 46.3 percent overall and knocking down 10 threes. The Bennies forced 17 turnovers, turning them into a 20–2 advantage in points off miscues, and outscored Nebraska Wesleyan, 40–32, in the paint. For the second straight game, CSB held its opponent below 40 percent shooting (38.8). The Bennies led wire-to-wire and pushed the margin as high as 31 in the fourth quarter.

CSB set the tone early, hitting 10-of-20 shots in the opening quarter—including four threes—to build a 26–13 lead, with Morgan scoring seven quick points. The advantage grew to 35–15 in the second quarter after a Morgan basket and a Driste three, and the Bennies entered halftime ahead, 44–28.

Morgan and Young helped stretch the lead early in the third, and Driste added two more threes—including the one that secured her new career high—as CSB opened the half on a 13–4 run. Her fourth three pushed the margin to 62–34, and the Bennies carried a 67–41 lead into the final quarter.

In the fourth, Emma Theisen (Rosemount, Minn.) knocked down a pair of free throws, and Annika Schaefer (Apple Valley, Minn.) buried two threes as CSB shot 7-of-13 in the period to close out the win.
