ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team is headed back to the MIAC Playoffs semifinals and into a familiar postseason matchup. With a four-match winning streak, the third-seeded Bennies (19-6) will face No. 2 Gustavus Adolphus (23-6) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn.
Saint Benedict, the defending MIAC Playoff champion, advanced to the semifinals after sweeping No. 6 Augsburg, 3-0, in Tuesday's quarterfinal at Claire Lynch Hall. The win marked the Bennies' 25th all-time playoff victory in their 23rd postseason appearance. CSB has captured MIAC Playoff titles in 2024, 2017, and 2009. CSB has reached the MIAC Semifinals three straight years.
This week's matchup also serves as a rematch of last year's semifinals, when CSB upset top-seeded Gustavus in straight sets en route to the 2024 championship. The Gusties, however, have won three of the past four MIAC playoff titles and hold home-court advantage this time after topping the Bennies, 3-1, in their regular-season meeting on Sept. 26 in St. Peter.
Overall, Saint Benedict leads the all-time series 23-18.
