Jones, Torve and McManus lead CSB Volleyball to a 3-1 road win over Augsburg

Bennies have won four straight MIAC games and 7-of-8 overall

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team (15-4, 6-1 MIAC) continues its winning ways. With a 3-1 victory over Augsburg (8-15, 3-3 MIAC), the Bennies extended their conference win streak to four and maintained a half-game lead for second place in the MIAC standings.

CSB has now won seven of its last eight matches and improved to 15-4 overall.

Junior Kali Jones followed up her 17-kill performance against Saint Mary's on Saturday (Oct. 18) with another standout effort, posting 16 kills, 11 digs, and four blocks. The reigning MIAC Offensive Player of the Week notched her 33rd career double-double while hitting .190 on 42 swings.

First-year outside hitter Keira McManus added nine kills and three blocks, while junior Kate Stadum was efficient with five kills on 11 attacks, hitting .444. Junior Brooke Andries contributed five kills, junior McKenna Moehrle tallied four kills and five blocks, and senior Mackenzie Knofczynski chipped in four kills and four blocks as the Bennies totaled 10 team blocks.

Defensively, senior Chaeli Haupert led with 18 digs and two service aces, and sophomore setter Izzy Torve recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 23 assists and 15 digs, while also serving a team-high three aces.

As a team, CSB hit .160 with 47 kills on 156 attacks, adding eight service aces, 72 digs, and 46 assists.

The Bennies opened the match strong with a 25-20 win in the first set, hitting .172 with nine kills. Augsburg evened things up with a 25-20 win in set two. Set three was a back-and-forth battle featuring 11 ties and six lead changes before CSB edged out a 25-23 win. The Bennies closed out the match with an impressive .368 hitting percentage in the final set, securing a 25-18 victory.

Next up, Saint Benedict hosts first-place St. Olaf on Friday, Oct. 24, for Family Night and a "Red Out" in Claire Lynch Hall.
