ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team (9-6, 4-4 MIAC), which had 14 points from
Tatum Findley, suffered a 74-51 loss to the College of St. Scholastica (9-6, 6-2 MIAC) on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Claire Lynch Hall.
The loss drops St. Ben's to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in MIAC play, while St. Scholastica improves to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in conference action. Kloey Lind led CSS with 22 points. CSB's next matchup is a road game against Augsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Minneapolis.
Findley, a first-year guard from Avon, Minn., led the Bennies with 14 points, marking her sixth career double-digit scoring performance. She shot 5-of-9 from the field, including 1-of-2 from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Senior guard
Sophia Jonas added nine points, hitting two three-pointers. With these nine points, Jonas moved closer to reaching 1,000 career points, now sitting at 996 and just four shy of becoming the 22nd player in school history to achieve that milestone. Junior guard

St. Scholastica dominated the inside game, outscoring CSB, 38-24, in the paint and grabbing a 43-28 edge in rebounds. The Saints also took advantage of second-chance opportunities, scoring 11 points to CSB's five. As a team, St. Ben's struggled with shooting, finishing 18-of-56 from the field (32.1 percent), including 4-of-17 from beyond the arc. CSS shot 29-of-59 (49.2 percent), including eight three-pointers and eight free throws.
CSB started strong, opening the game with an 8-2 run, highlighted by a pair of baskets from Findley. However, the Saints quickly turned the momentum in their favor, closing the first quarter on a 23-12 run to lead, 25-20. Despite shooting 50 percent (6-of-12) in the opening period, CSB was outshot by CSS, who made 10-of-15 shots (66.7 percent) and hit 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
In the second quarter, St. Scholastica extended their lead with a 17-10 scoring advantage, going into halftime ahead 42-30. CSS shot 43.8 percent (7-of-16) in the period, while CSB struggled, shooting just 28.6 percent (4-of-14).
St. Scholastica continued to control the game in the third quarter, outscoring CSB 21-10 and extending their lead to 63-40. CSS shot 60 percent (8-of-16) in the period and added three three-pointers, while CSB made just 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) and failed to hit a three-pointer. Both teams scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, but CSB couldn't close the gap, shooting just 25 percent (4-of-16) in the period, while CSS shot 33.3 percent (4-of-12).
