ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Carla Meyer, Sophia Jonas and Megan Morgan of the College of Saint Benedict basketball team have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams.

The trio of CSB standouts helped the Bennies finish with an 15-11 overall record and 12-8 in the MIAC, earning a No. 5 seed in the MIAC Playoffs. CSB advanced to the MIAC Playoff semifinals for the second straight year.

Morgan earned her first selection and Meyer and Jonas have been named CSC  Academic All-District for a second straight year. With the recognition, CSB now has had 14 Academic All-District honorees in school history. Meyer and Jonas became the second and third two-time honorees as they joined Chelsey Guetter, 2016-18.

CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16 (women) and April 17 (men). The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.

 
Carla Meyer
Meyer, a senior nursing major from New Brighton, Minn., earlier became the 12th three-time All-MIAC honoree from CSB. With 1,226 career points in 86 career games, Meyer, who was also named to the All-MIAC Playoff Team, finished ninth on CSB career scoring list. During her stellar career with the Bennies, Meyer ranks in the program's top-10 in three major statistical categories. She finished her career with 302 assists for fourth all-time and with 160 three-pointers also ranks fifth. In an 87-63 win over St. Olaf on Jan. 3, 2024, at Claire Lynch Hall, Meyer became the 21st player to join CSB's 1,000-point club. Meyer, Kim Krize (1985-88) Jennifer Nash (1982-85) are the only players in school history to reach 1,000 points in 73 or fewer games as Nash accomplished the feat with 1,071 in 73 games and Meyer reached 1K in her 70th game.

In 26 games this season, Meyer averaged 14.3 points (371 points) for third in the MIAC with her 3.6 assists (93 total) ranking second in the league. She also averaged 5.2 rebounds per game (135) for 15th in the MIAC. Meyer, who had 434 career rebounds, registered 73 double-digit scoring games with 21 in 2023-24. Meyer, who recorded three career double-doubles, earned her first-ever MIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor on Dec. 4, 2023, after averaging 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in wins over Saint Mary's on Nov. 29 and Hamline on Dec. 2.

Meyer registered 11, 20-point games in her career with a high of 27 points against Bethel on Feb. 21, 2023. This season, she had a high of 23 points against St. Olaf on Jan. 3. Meyer ranked second all-time in program history in career assists per game at 3.7, sitting just behind Patty Meyer, 4.7, 1985-89. In her career she was 485-of-1,137 from the field for 42.7 percent in 86 games (85 starts). The 485 made field goals by Meyer ranks ninth all-time in Saint Benedict history. She averaged a program-best 33.5 minutes per game. In addition, Meyer hit 160-of-491 threes for 32.6 percent and made 96-of-118 free throws for 81.4 percent as she averaged 14.3 points per game for her career, a mark that ranks eighth in program history.

 
Sophia Jonas
An accounting major from Hudson, Wis., Jonas also earned All-MIAC honors as she became the 24th CSB student-athlete to earn consecutive all conference first-team honors. She had a record-breaking year after averaging 11.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game in 24 games in 2023-24. Jonas, who ranked first in the MIAC and 20th in NCAA DIII with 2.71 three pointers per game, is the MIAC/school record holder in season three pointers with 84 a year ago and followed up with 65 in 2023-24, which ranked second in the MIAC. As a result, she set the Bennies' career three-point record with 193 in 76 games (65 starts). Jonas, who has 42 double-digit scoring games, made three or more triples 10 times this year. Named the CSB invite Tournament MVP, she was named MIAC Offensive Basketball Player of the Week twice Nov. 13, and Nov. 20, 2023.

Jonas, who was honorable mention All-MIAC as a first-year standout, is one of two players in CSB history (Laura Wendorff) to earn the MIAC weekly honor four times. Jonas, who has a 10.9 points per game (16th all-time at CSB) average in her career, has six 20-point games in her career. She has made six triples in a game three times in her career, including twice in 2023-24 (UW-River Falls, Minnesota Morris). In her career, she is averaging 30.5 minutes per game and has hit 285-of-783 field goals for 36.4 percent, 193-of-538 three-pointers for 35.9 percent. Those 538 attempted threes by Jonas are also most in CSB school history. She is 64-of-84 for 76.2 percent in career free throws with 173 rebounds, 122 assists and 62 steals. Jonas had a career-high 26 points at UW-River Falls on Nov. 16, 2023, and recorded five assists three times, including against Hamline on Jan. 20, 2024.

 
Megan Morgan
Morgan, a sophomore exercise and health services major from Winona, Minn., averaged a career-best 9.5 points (246 points), 4.1 rebounds (107) and  2.0 assists (51) per game in 26 games for CSB in 2023-24. Morgan earned her first MIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award on Feb. 19, 2024.

Morgan recorded a single game career high of 26 points, five assists (tied old high), 10 rebounds (tied old high), and eight field goals made against St. Catherine on February 17, 2024. In her career, she has 360 points, 184 rebounds, 75 assists, 31 assists and 15 blocked shots.
